Selling on Gumtree

Hello lovely people!

Just wondering if anybody has sold on Gumtree, and if so, whether you had any problems? I have a load of clothes and other bits and pieces I want to get rid of.

Thanks in advance!

Be prepared for timewasters. You may also get people who turn up and then want to start haggling.

Sold a variety of household items through the 'tree in the last few years.

Describe your items fully and honestly, take cash payments, and if people come to your house, show them the items in the hallway, garage or other semi-public area, and you can't go far wrong. Or meet at some neutral venue. Don't get into the realms of posting items to buyers, specify in your advert that the buyer must pick up from you.

I've found that most negotiating gets done by e-mail or txt before the buyer turns up.

If they do haggle at your home, you just have to play hardball, shrug your shoulders and say "That's my price. You've driven here, do you really want to go home empty-handed, having spent your petrol money to get here?"
