The rums you mentioned are a bit specialised but with regard to other drinks, I genuinely can't tell the difference between Disaronno and the likes of Tesco, Lidl & Aldi's cheaper Amaretto for example.

I defo agree with you re: Amaretto, and as we tend to make Amaretto Sours we quite often use the Aldi version. It is slightly thinner, but fine for mixing. As for Baileys, I too have heard lots of enthusing about some of the cheaper brands but I haven't found one which would quite pass as the real deal. So in the past I have used the Sainsburys version for Baileys Cheesecake (or Irish Mousse) because the taste is there, but I always miss that slightly thick and syruppy quality that real Baileys has

Also, I have learnt the hard way that those "Irish Country Liqueurs" that go for about a fiver in Lidl/Aldi are absolutely rank - cream and wine are not happy bedfellows! :rotfl:

If anyone has any suggestions of things that tast like Glayva but are cheaper I would be forever in your debt!
