I would just die without mine, in fact if it went I would be at the 24 hr supermarket in a flash for a new one.

I suppose it depends how much you use it and what for, if it's just for reheating the odd tin of peas then I doubt you would miss it much.

I use mine for pre-cooking prior to roasting, defrosting, steaming, reheating and cooking rice, pasta and some vegetables, occasionally cooking chicken wings, bacon and other small meat items.

I have one, it was the cheapest one I could find in Argos. I've had it almost 8 years and its barely been used. Maybe occasionally to reheat a meal or to warm a single serving of dessert, I also use it to steam veg if I'm only doing one type so not worth getting the steamer out. Other than that it's been useful as extra storage in a small kitchen, the bread bin sits on top out of the dogs reach and sometimes food is kept in there if the cupboards are full (maybe a pack of biscuits or a full pack of teabags)

I have one but I very rarely use it. I occasionally make porridge in it and I sometimes use it to start off jacket potatoes but I could manage perfectly well without it

That's the only thing I ever used mine for so I got rid. I hate them for cooking food in, unless I'm at work as we don't have a cooker.
  • I could manage without mine but wouldn't want to. I use it to reheat my cups of tea after I've forgotten about them and OH reheats his dinner in it if he's working late. We also use ours for scrambled eggs, beans, veg, jacket spuds, porridge, wheat packs etc.

i don't know why but i've never really liked using it!
i decided we didn't need a replacement much to dh dismay.
i've not missed it really at all. i warm milk twice a day on the hob.

I would be lost with out mine, I used it most days.

From doing mushrooms for 90 seconds before flash frying - reduces amount of oil/butter used - pukka microwave pies lovely 3 mins better than heating oven for 30 mins or more, perfect scrambled eggs with much easier to clean pot, jacket spuds. par cooking potatoes and parnsips before roasting again one dish to clean as same one goes in oven and so much more.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
  • I've never had a microwave!

I haven't had one for 7 years, the only thing I really miss is being able to have a super quick jacket potato, I suppose I just need to be more organised.
  • I use mine every day for frozen peas or beans and for youngests bedtime milk. Also used for porridge, jacket pots, defrosting meat etc

I just got one after being without for years. I use it for soap because I don't really know how to cook in them :) I got the Russell Hobbs somebody else mentioned, on offer in Sainsbugs. I'm not really keen on them but they're handy to have.
