I was going to buy these as well but have a feeling they might be last years. Has anyone received them and can tell us the date.

John Lewis don't sell out of date chocolates (except by accident and then they give you a refund!).

Of course they don't-they would be committing an offence under the Food Safety Act if they did. However, the chocolate may not still be in date in December, which presumably is when most people would want to eat it......

Chocolate lasts forever, no need to worry about dates.

It changes colour with age and eventually the taste alters too, but 1 year will hardly make any difference if stored sensibly.

    Thanks for that.

Tealblue sorry if gave you the impression they would be selling out of date. I meant would they still be in date by this Christmas when most of us want them for.

    Depends what's in it.
Some fresh cream truffles only last a couple of weeks.
Normal chocolate is fairly safe even if out of date.

Not if it's ordinary chocolate with a BB rather than a use by date. While it is an offence to sell food after the 'use by' date, retailers can, with the exception of eggs, sell products after the 'best before' date, providing it is safe to eat. Chocolate is, although that fact is very rarely tested...wonder why?
