Purchase needed competitions

I know it's probably a bit of an unanswerable questions but I ind myself going round supermarkets buying things just because they have competitions on (they've obviously done their job!) but do I stand a much better chance of winning these do you reckon?
And what are everyone's experiences like in winning in these?
Thanks!! X

One of my best wins came from a purchase necessary comp - an iphone.
Other MSE-ers won from the same comp - vouchers, iphone e.t.c.
I only really go out of my way to buy things if the prize is of a high value... most of the time it's something i buy anyway, but just a different brand
Good Luck!0 -
I rarely go in for these as they are usually on branded goods & I tend to buy own brand - but it depends on how the winners are selected, there have been a couple of high profile comps where nobody won the main prize (such as New Coven Garden Soups win a farm competition) because each pack had a code & the pre-chosen winning code wasn't enteredproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I only do these if it's something I would buy anyway. I don't mind switching brands for a couple of weeks (the thrill of the competition is worth the extra 50p! :rotfl:) but I wouldn't buy anything I'm not going to use just for the sake of it.0

I go out of my way for purchase comps, and have done pretty well from them. I really think it depends on the type of comp and how prizes are allocated, the 'pre-allocated winning moment / code' type ones are usually a no go for me, unless they award the prize to the first entrant on OR after the 'moment'.0

Me too! Can't stand the "winning moment" comps in general.0 -
i love them and have won loads on them
walkers - a brands hatch racing day including hotel and hospitality, with their 2010 comp, and several cash wins with their weather comp
walls sausages - 22 bottles of champagne and £120 theatre vouchers, just recently £189 with the temperature comp
magnum - a sony vaio netbook
mc vities - a sony ebook reader, nintendo wii, and camera
pepsi, £200
Ribena - hunter wellies
and lots of little things, so for me they are worth it but only for things that we will use, i won't buy things just for the comps.0 -
my husband won the pepsi max £500 one but we buy it anyway i dont usually go out of my way to buy somethingi dont useWhat goes around-comes around0

I'm not very adventurous with food and drink but can't resist a good comp. I've found myself buying some item I would never have tried - and really liked them and gone back for more
