Hi guys sorry I didn't come back sooner.

Finding this alot harder then I first thought - not that I thought it would be easy...but thought I would have a list of things I could do at least ! :D

I was thinking about this crafting thing last night, I found a website that looks ok but havn't had time to go through it properly but although I am not artistic (drawing stick men is my best lol) I was good at some sowing at school so perhaps something to think about although Id have no idea how to go about it now.

As for book keeping - I am doing AAT but early stages and not in postion to actally do someones books (well not properly anyway could probally do a small ebay business like my own or something but nothing they couldn't do themselfs).

I've decided to do leaflet delivering as 1% perhaps even 2% if I get into it as I'd need to deliver 9,000 leaflets for 1% so will have to wait till after baby is born and abit older but easily done before next september if I can get the work.

2nd only considering but similar to that was thinking of taking up the weekly newspaper round as I think they pay about £20 a week so that would be about 3months worth to the £270 but tbh I've done it before its not hard or that time consuming (apart from putting the leaflets in but I can do that at home whilst OH is at work) just finding the motivation to get out the door sometimes..or most the time! lol

3rd...I might get jumped on for this but I am pretty good at poker. I go though phases of it...so I've put £7 onto an account and I plan on trying for £270. I am not going to keep putting money on it - if I lose this £7 then its gone. So far I am on £11 though...but if I am to do this I will have to do it 'bit by bit' i.e £1 tables that if I lose that £1 I still have 10 more goes etc lol plus this is tax free ... one thing about poker though is knowing when to quit so if I set myself £270 then thats it...I'll either cash out at zero losing only £7..or I cash out at £270 and don't try to go for 2%.
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • If you're going to be on the computer for most of the day anyway then join clixsense.

They have a radio app which you leave running and every ten minutes there's a catchpa to solve. 1cents a go, so as I say only worth it if you're on anyway, but it doesn't mind being muted and even works with adblock.

I have tried that (on instagc) but it seemed to consume quite a lot of cpu (chrome task list showed it at over 50% cpu, confirmed by top, plus another 50% in the X server), making the (linux) pc sluggish for other stuff. Plus not sure how much network it's using to play (video) adverts. So I tend not to bother.

Perhaps it's less of a hog on windows.
  • Apparently Victoria Coren has made over a 1 million dollars playing poker. ;)2

It's a skill just like any other, if you have the knack then why not give it a whirl.

I had a friend who made a nice little sideline income betting on the horses. It was his hobby and he made money. What's not to like.

As you know I'm also on the £1m challenge. I too need to look at some more income streams, so shall watch this thread with interest.

I am actually quite crafty and arty but have never really got round to selling very much. Perhaps I could look at that.

I have in the past made and sold jewellery. It is really easy and pleasant to do, you could do it the evening, whilst watching TV when the little ones are in bed. The run up to Christmas is a good time for crafts etc - people are always on the lookout for interesting and unusual gifts.
