Reclaiming from Vodafone.

I have been charged on a monthly basis for a phone I returned 2 years ago to the sum of £255.50. I brought this to the attention of Vodafone and after looking into this they agreed this shouldn't of happened and have given me a credit of only £62.10 they say it's policy is that they can only refund up to the last 6 months!!! I have told them that it's not good enough as they should have updated their records on return of the phone. They said I should have noticed the mistake earlier and are trying to blame me. Can anybody advise me on my rights for full claim please.
Thanks,
Woodmiseter

How come you didnt notice Direct Debit payments for the 2 years? Sounds about fair to be honest.. I would notice an errant Direct Debit withing the first month or so (certainly by time bank statement is received).. so there is a joint 'responsibility' in this having happened.. Did you not receive mobile bills either??
Youre other option may be to speak to your bank regarding the direct debit indemnity, although if they claimed back further than the 6 months, be prepared for Vodafone to then trash the credit file by reporting default of payments..0 -
Because it was included on my main phone bill that I use all the time and my usage is up and down and my bill has always fluctuated each month never really thought I needed to check it. The difference is about £10 on average and that is what I use extra with sending photos etc. I never get bills either paper or mobile and pay a set contract of £47 so £10 extra a month on other usage can be the norm. ( maybe yes I should check my bill ) but also expect Vodafone to update their records once the phone was returned then we wouldn't be in this situation.( also they could see there was no usage on the second phone for the 2 years. )0
