  • It's one of the BEAR neccessities of life isn't it?
  • "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see............" was one of my daughters favorite books as a young child, I read it to her sooooooo many times...........maybe that is why I am struggling with this tin!!!! Thank you all for your comments, I have a bear belly ache from laughing at all the clever puns...........I just hope when I do finally get around to using the bear meat that I can do you and it justice!

I have done my menu plans for this month up to 27th when we go away for a week, but I promise to include bear meat in my menu for October and, of course will keep you all posted of the 'bear' facts of our proposed meal!!!!!

Thanks all for your interest and post SG.x

Personally, I'd substitute it for the tin of stewed steak in this recipe and not add the stock cube and parsley ...

    THREE TIN BEEF STEW

    Makes 4 x 250ml bowls

    INGREDIENTS

1 tin of stewed steak in gravy
1 tin of new potatoes in water
1 tin of sliced carrots, sliced mushrooms or garden peas in water

    METHOD

Open the tin of steak. Put the steak and gravy into a saucepan.

Open the tin of potatoes. Drain the water into the saucepan. Cut the potatoes into 2cm (1 inch) pieces. Add the potatoes to the saucepan.

Open the tin of carrots, mushrooms or peas. Add them and the water to the saucepan.

    Stir thoroughly.

Put the saucepan on a medium heat. Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat until it is just boiling. Put the lid on the saucepan and continue to cook for 5 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

Use more than two tins of vegetables.

    Add a beef stock cube.

Add a teaspoon of dried parsley.

    TIPS

If any of the potatoes are damaged, mash them up and add them to the saucepan. They will help to thicken the stew.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
