Hi, I used the prove it letter that stickied to this forum for a debt that was being chased by Lowell group, I got a reply, but I'm not sure if the reply actually tells me anything new.
Any help from the community would be appreciated.

Hi,
Ask them to provide the following :
(1) Deed of Assignment (NOT Notice of Assignment)
(2) and Deed of Novation
chances are they wont be able to. A Deed of Novation is used where one party transfers its rights and obligations under a contract to another party. A novation usually happens when the seller of a business transfers the contracts with his customers to the buyer. The consent of all three parties - the transferee, the transferor and the other contracting party - is required to effect the novation.
Same applies to buying and selling of debts, effectively Lowells paid off your debt when they bought it from HSBC, so you don't owe them anything, as you never had a contract with lowells in the first place.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
