Celebrating special birthday in Florida - Help please

Hi, can I just say that I've been a fan of Martin & this website for years but have only just joined the forum so I hope I'm posting this correctly!
It's my daughter's 21st birthday whilst we are on holiday in Orlando in November 2013 and I'd like to do something special for her but I don't know what - please can anybody help with suggesting sites to look at or places to go? I can only think of visiting Planet Hollywood or something but I don't know if I can book a cake and could really do with some inspiration.
Thanks everybody

some great restuarants but again depends on where you are/your preferences downtown disney for example house of blues is far nicer than planet hollywood but different themeing

there are a few great forums out there but not sure if allowed to mention on here?
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

I guess a lot will depend on what sort of celebration you want and what your daughter likes.

We have spent probably the last 4 or 5 years away over our birthday period and have really not had a problem celebrating in any resturant etc.

Usually its best to give a couple of days notice if you are going at a busy time but if its not peak season you can leave it till the day before to book etc.
Places like planet hollywood or indeed any of the resturants will make as much oras little of the birthday as you want...and that can range from quiet celebration right through to everyone up on the table dancing!!!!...the choice is yours.

In relation to the cake we've done it several ways..yes the resturants can order one in or indeed fancify an existing pudding...or as we now prefer its very easy to get your own.
We have usually got some wonderful things from the supermarket "world foods " at the top end of international drive...theres a great selection of celebration cakes and cupcakes to take away ....special orders can be done and again a few days notice is required.
They also do a wonderful selection of wines and champagnes very reasonably priced too.

Also places like dunkin donuts do cakes more ice cream based than cake and the supermarket publix has a good range of cakes that again can be preordered.

In terms of things to do on the day or around it have a look at the amway center, there may be a basball/ice hockey match on or sometimes concerts.

our son celebrated his birthday in orlando last year and for some reason wanted to mark it with a go on "sling shot " at fun spot...he had a great time being propelled hundreds of feet in the air but thats probably no more your daughters idea of a fun birthday than mine!!!!!!

Basically though the choice of what and how you spend the time is endless and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

You should look at the DIBB ( Disney Information Bulletin Board) loads of really good ideas on there.

You could do the Chef's table at one of the top hotels such as the Grand Floridian

    http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=184

Hire a boat to be on the lake at Disney for the fireworks.

    http://allears.net/btp/illum.htm

We have done both of the above and they were special evenings.

    Campfire at Fort Wilderness
Go to Fort Wilderness for the campfire/sing-along, nightly at 7pm behind the Meadow Trading Post. Movie begins approximately 7:40pm. A Disney classic movie follows the sing-along. Chip and Dale usually make an appearance. The Fort Wilderness staff will provide a campfire; bring your marshmallows, hot dogs and sticks if you have them. If not, marshmallows and sticks are available for purchase at $2 for 2 sticks and plenty of marshmallows; $5 for a s'more kit. The movie shown is different each night of the week. In the event of inclement weather, a "Porch Jam" sing-a-long will take place at the Ol' Meadow Swimmin' Hole. Movie & Sing-a-Long free of charge. Note: All movies & characters are outside! Campfire Show is held nightly if weather permits.

There are loads more ideas on the Dibb and on the site above Allears.
