Buying kitchens

Hello,

I'm currently seeking a new kitchen, which is a confusing and potentially expensive business. I'm looking to spend about £7k for the units and need to spend another few grand on building work, flooring, walls, etc. I don't think Martin's written a guide to buying kitchens, so any tips?

I've had a couple of salemen out from Kitchen's Direct and Betta Living (previously The English Kitchen Company) who have offered me deals that start ridiculous (£20k), then come down to about £6k as I'm kicking them out the door. Then of course, you're told that if you don't buy now, there's no chance of sleeping on the deal.

I know MFI, B&Q have rock bottom prices, but I'm happy to consider the more expensive options.

Any tips on dealing with salesmen is welcome, and how to research kitchens to know you're getting a good deal.

Thanks
