Reclaiming tax for washing work clothes- Child Tax Credits?

Hi,
I recently claimed back over £100 tax for having washed my work clothes for the past 6 years (Although I think you can only calim back 4 years worth). My Tax code has now changed. I was going to urge people at my work to do the same but became aware that if their tax code will be changing then this may affect any child tax credits that they may be claiming.
Please can I ask that if someone was to specify in their letter to HMRC that they do not wish for their tax code to be changed because (for example) they now have their clothes washed by their employers, this would negate any potential Child tax credit issues?
Thank you in advance,
B

I think it only works out at about £60 per year so can't see it really making that much difference to Tax Credits.0

Thanks, I agree but I'm thinking that it might put someone over the threshold so I want to know would my cavaet of 'specifying in their letter to HMRC that they do not wish for their tax code to be changed because (for example) they now have their clothes washed by their employers' keep the tax code exactly the same, thus not making any difference to people's tax credits? Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0
