Holiday Comps

Why are so many of the comps to win holidays abroad for 3 or 4 nights only? There are also loads that just fly out from London.

I feel it's hardly worth winning a trip abroad if you only get to stay that long - by the time you get there you'll be packing to come back:rotfl:

Is it me or does anyone else get frustrated by this - I live 351 miles from Gatwick - more than 6hrs one way by car (and the rail transport is pretty rubbish here too!)

Am I just being an old whinge-bag or does anyone else not bother entering these?:o

  • I'm going to cyprus for 5 nights - flying from Stansted (about a 3 1/2 hour train journey) but due to flight times we only get 4 days in resort. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't entered. I was hoping to go from Manchester, where my son lives so I could visit him too but although T&Cs said this was possible you could only do 3 or 4 nights not the 5 on offer.

I totally agree with your points & now I'm more careful in the holiday comps I enter

  • I don't bother with those short holidays and I live very close to LGW.
I also don't bother with Australia for 7 nights only.

Have recently won a Caribbean Holiday for 7 nights, but they have allowed me to extend to 14 nights, add an extra passenger, and upgrade the flights, which I had to pay for.

Some promoters don't let you do this. Some don't even let you upgrade the flight which I can never understand as I would have thought they would want the extra money...
    thanks to all posters

Ah, now I quite like them as although my holiday entitlement is generous, it's totally inflexible. I work Mon-Wed so could easily go Wednesday night 'til Sunday :)
Am going to LA for 5 days next month :)
Just another point of view ;)

  • I quite like them too - i've never been a huge fan of holidays that are more than a week.

I won a holiday to Australia for a week and it was fantastic because it was pretty much all inclusive in luxury accommodation.

Yes it would have been nice if it was longer, but i'm not one to turn down a free holiday (well, one that isn't costing me much.)

I live less than half an hour from Heathrow, so getting to and from the airport isn't an issue for me.

I can get to any of the London airports quite easily and don't like long holidays (have elderly pets so better I'm home to keep an eye on their health niggles..) so really short break comps suit me, in fact if a holiday is over a week I often don't enter it.

I've been all over the world for work in the past for very short periods and I loved it, I'm an anti 2 weeks type of holiday person too :p

I'd go anywhere abroad even if for only a couple of nights.. just need to win one!!
  • Personally, I'd be delighted with a free 3-4 day holiday...
  • and the one night UK hotel stays ....

  • A holiday is a holiday to me! grateful for how many ever days people are willing to give away!
  • Like you, I'm a fair distance away from any of the London airports (about 500 miles!). I still enter them, though - if it's meant to be, it'll be.

I'd just have to Megabus my way there :p
