Curry's Installation Charges

Options
My friend is buying a gas cooker at Curry's and they advise they can install it for £85. We thought this seemed a bit high, but unsure of the going rate.

However, it would be less hassle if they delivered and installed it at the same time, but wondered if this service was at premium rates.

Would getting a local tradesman to do it be the same cost?

  • I would suggest it's worth ten minutes on the phone to find out.... suspect you'll be able to halve that number although double check about taking the old one away if that's what you need.

£85 is a very excessive charge for what is involved assuming that it replaces an existing gas cooker.
In my area could get it done for £25 tops.
The local scrap collectors would soon take the old one if left outside.
    Forgotten but not gone.
  • I hope they install it better than they did with my friend's washing machine. My friend used it as soon as they left, and it started leaking water everywhere. I went round and pulled the washing machine out and the cold water pipe wasn't even tightened.

Like others have said your friend could probably get it done for much cheaper. I had an absolute nightmare with currys/know how team who install the goods over an electric cooker installation and their customer service is non existant, the two crooks, sorry drivers turned up and told me they could not install to curry's standards ( i had already paid the £65 fee) but they could fit it on the quiet for 40 quid cash....and that I had to claim back the £65...cue months of aggro and time wasting but eventually did get the £65 back, I had the last laugh as due to the complaint case they wanted to apparently investigate so would send someone out to check the cooker installation... the two original theiving morons turned up and got told to foxtrot oscar off the doorstep, would never buy from them again
