Com longhorn is lovely and you can have everything there, including over night stays, for a number of people.
Gretna itself isn't that nice a place, and Gretna Green, although it is a romantic idea is very commercialised and conveyor beltish now.
My uncle got married at The Mill Forge last year and it was beautiful. It is a lovely setting with the old wheel, it's own little chapel, and even a Gretna Green sign in the car park for the 'authentic' photos.
Bar, restaurant for wedding meals, everything you could want for the actual wedding day (even the traditional anvil) and only a stones throw from Gretna Green and Gretna and some nice hotels. Try Smiths Hotel if you want a nice place, not been myself but heard melts of good reports.
I think it's a lovely idea of booking something and then building the rest of the dream day together especially if you know it is a place she really wants.

I agree that Gretna isn't too pretty a place (apologies to anyone living there!) We stopped off at Gretna Green on the way and in the time it took to have a coffee and a sandwich at the cafe there (approx 45mins) we saw 3 weddings. All very nice but very very public, if you're into that sort of thing then fair play to you.
The mill forge was lovely; that was actually a very close plan B.
I didn't rate Smiths at all; not sure why as others loved it.0 -
I got married at Comlongon castle four years ago, and booked directly through them, it was absolutely fantastic!! Couldn't fault the food, stunning.0
