Eating at workstations is rarely acceptable. It is unhygenic, messy and if liquids are present can create a hazzard.

An accident with a mug of coffee over a pc would reinforce the need for the emplyer to meet their duty under law - its not advice, its a requirement.

Apathy lets employers avoid their duty.
All my office jobs have never had a table/staff room etc so we have always eaten at our desks and I have spilt tea over paperwork and keyboards and the like.

You should see the cr*p that comes out of a keyboard when its cleaned.

Also with mice running over the desks I don't think it was very hygienic either!!

One bad thing about taking your lunch at your desk is the non stop 'I am at lunch' you have to keep telling people.

Legally the employer has a duty to provide facilities - those choosing not to need held to account or they will continue to do as they please.

But a work place is allowed?
