Is it worth buying “fat” clothes?

I recently gained about 5 -6 extra kg and in the result myusual clothes are not fitting or look really bad on me. I am hesitating weather it is worth buying somenice clothes, taking into consideration that in 1 month I hope (or so I plan!) Iwill drop 1 clothes size. I am planning to do some diet. But from the otherside- at the moment I am looking pretty miserable, not only I am fat, I alsohave only 1 or 2 variant of clothes available to me and I need to look good at work and in my free time. I know this question is stupid, but I need your support and advice. What would you do?

  • Buy a few reasonably priced pieces of smart clothing from Asda or Tesco. Then, as and when you do lose weight, you haven't wasted too much money.

It is always worth buying some clothes that fit and make you look good, if only to make you feel good about yourself and give you the confidence to hold your head high.
Even if it is just Tesco/Asda clothes. Ill fitting clothes is the most off putting thing there is. Not the extra fat one can get at one point of their life - but the ill fitting clothes that make it stand out and take over.

It is difficult to diet when one is depressed and miserable...and ugly clothes add to that. In my opinion.

They say to buy clothes that fit you, not clothes you want to slim into. I think I would get some nice clothes that fit you now, and then smaller clothes if and when they're needed.

It is worth having clothers that fit. To cut the cost you could try to get much of the variety of outfit from things that you could wear at a smaller size too, or easily take in.

Maybe just buy a few staples to see you through for now. They don't have to be expensive - as other have mentioned supermarkets do some very reasonably priced clothes, especially work-wear, and charity shops can be great for picking up some nice brands cheap.

Thank you all for kind posts! I actually followed your advice and bought a pair of trouser in New Look (havent got big Asda or Tesco near at the moment) for £9.99 and I am very happy with this purchase. It immediately gave me about 5 more different options to wear to work (from top I am still same). And it looks good! Normally I would not think of buying clothes for work from there, but I am very happy now.
  • Purchase a few clothes that would fit your current size, nothing fancy since it will be temporary anyway.

If only I could eat all the food I want and not get any chub :)

Have a look at the 5:2 diet to lose weight. It makes it much easier and as the weight will drop off, you may not need the clothes.

I'm the same, I'm 5' nothing so *any* extra weight on me makes me look like Augustus Gloop! I tried wearing my too-small tshirts and jeans to motivate myself to lose weight and it just made me more miserable. I'd buy a few staples in a bigger size.
