(Although I suppose the extra 10% does make it worthwhile...)

Its 10% of the difference, £32.20 again not to quibble about.
Better to remain a silent fool than speak and remove all doubt.

I anticipate we will get a few responses from the OP like " Does everyone work for Curry's ? or the secret EU rule will get mentioned.

Unfortunately I anticipate the OP will never be heard from again. I was hoping they would at least put up a bit of a fight.
  • If the company in Birmingham was online only, currys won't price match...

I think the OP means that the price is higher to compensate for the "free" warranty and if the warranty was not included it would be a cheaper price which is more the company just being dishonest more than price fixing

I sent an email to Curry's customer care on Friday advising them of this, and they did not respond, but no surprise.

It's probably because the "consumer act" doesn't exist!

For me, a lot depends on who the retailers are.
Earlier this year I was looking for a TV and found the one I wanted in John Lewis. After shopping around a bit, I saw the same one in Richer Sounds for £99 less, but having always received very good aftersales service from JL, I decided to stick with them.

All they had to do was to confirm that the TV was in stock in RS and they matched the price. (no 10% extra though).
How much was the TV out of interest Shaun?
  • It was for sale at JL for £799 and Richer Sounds had it for £700.

I was lucky in that my local JL store is in Croydon with a Richer Sounds store only a few miles away and they had one of the TVs in stock. Like JL, all of their TVs come with a 5 year guarantee so there was no argument about the deals being different.
I was surprised at how easy it was to get them to price match as I expected them to try to get out of it.

Yeah I would have expected them to get out of it too. Always rated RS for their CS and their insurance policy, also the fact if not claimed on you can get your premium back. Any electricals I always use JL or RS

Just a thought. If Currys are sourcing 'unique' models of goods with only cosmetic differences to what's available elsewhere to avoid price matching I think they are 'at it'.

I searched for the model OP has mentioned and even with the five year warranty I found it available at several retailers so not price fixing and getting a unique model. The cheapest I found it was £50 less than currys and the most expensive £400 more than currys.
