I'm not an expert so hopefully someone else will
Help you but I think you ask at the jobcentre for the
Appeal form to appeal the sanction
Hope someone else can advise housing benefit for you soon0 -
Not entirely sure but I believe housing benefit isn't included in the sanction but they may stop it due to being notified that you no longer get jsa. You'll probably need to fill in a form to get it reinstated, so you shouldn't lose that money. Good luck in fighting the sanction. It's an awful position to be in.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

What has this country and the so called goverment come to.
Sanctioning people left right and centre, with no thought to the problems they are causing.
How is it right that they can stop someones money that they need for housing and food without giving them a chance to explain why.
It is disgusting the way the goverment is treating its own people and i only hope that the next goverment starts to see sense.0 -

No, Your housing benefit won't be affected however it will get stopped until you call in your council and tell them about your situation and then your housing benefit will then get reinstated.
Hope you get everything sorted soon and sorry to hear about your situation, horrible place to be in when been sanctioned without any money0 -

I 100% agree, 5 people today at the work programme have been sanctioned due to not doing enough Jobseeking.
This Country is a joke and I am shocked Jobcentre can sanction anyone without causing any stress to the jobseeker and leave them with no money for food and bills :mad:0 -

In times of crisis people become more conservative and right wing - understandably so.
JCP doesn't care if a person can't manage on the money (or absence of money) they have coming in. They also seem to have the most atrocious relationship with Royal Mail. Two weeks for a letter to arrive - IF it arrives??
I used to work somewhere where letters were printed remotely. They were requested on a Wednesday and would take 3 working days to arrive at the office. Usually they would be there by the following Tuesday. Given that they gave people 7 days from the date of the letter to reply before legal action and were sent 2nd class, it wasn't any surprise that most people fell foul of that. Unamazingly, 'the system' showed a letter was 'sent' on the Wednesday, when we all knew it wasn't, nut that was still the relevant date for escalation.
Certainly, people should jump through the hoops they are given but at least make sure the hoop has a hole in the middle.0 -
Your housing benefit will stop. The sanction will spill over an extra two weeks. When the sanction ends, your housing benefit should roll back in again. Ensure you back-date it. You can claim for hardship allowance but you won't get the first two weeks. In the meantime you will have to use a food bank.0

You can not get a sanction unless they have informed you there was a doubt and gave you a chance to explain the situation and in your case you never got the letter
You need to lodge an appeal NOW!We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
