How do you know if a site is legit?

I saw this website selling reduced North Face jackets: http://www.northfacejacketstore.co.uk
I was a bit worried that the jackets were knock-off or it was a scam site, but don't know how to work out if the site is for real.

I am an employment solicitor. However, my views should not be taken to be legal advice. It's difficult to give correct opinion based on the information given by posters.

A look up service like whois - http://whois.net - would be a good way to get an idea who owns the site URL. However with this site whois shows that the domain is currently available - http://whois.net/whois/northfacejacketstore.co.uk
Also checking the URL on domain tools - http://whois.domaintools.com/northfacejacketstore.co.uk - shows it is registered to someone with an address is New Hampshire. The area code on there shows the address as being here.
Make you own decision on them though, although I'd be very wary of them!!0 -
The first things to look for on any website are a contact address and phone number. This site has neither. That's no surprise though because it's Chinese. That means everything they sell will be counterfeit. If they send you anything it will be a laughably badly made copy that'll fall to bits in weeks. On the other hand they may decide to keep your money and/or clone your credit card.
The address on the Domain Registration link that pete_I posted has been falsified.
I've rated and commented on Web of Trust to hopefully warn other people off this scam website.
