Need advice about a mortgage issue please

    This unsecured loan to part/fully fund a deposit and/or stamp duty crops up on here a lot.

    It is not good advice to do this and not necessarily the money saving way, however so long as the overall case is "affordable" then there are lenders that will consider the case if presented appropriately.

    If you take a loan post application/offer, always ensure the mortgage is still affordable. This needs to be ratified by the lender model of affordable and not simply that you can afford to pay it..

  • Thanks for all the responses so far. Another question along the same lines please:

    When the lender requires proof of deposit, do they require it only for the deposit or should it include the stamp duty and other costs associated with the purchase.

    I am considering paying stamp duty myself. We do have some liquidatable assets but won't like to sell these unless we are very close to the exchange.
