Hi,
I'm playing piano and singing at a wedding in a couple of weeks, and am a bit stuck for songs to do. I've got to fill an hour, and could do with a couple more suggestions to go alongside the classical stuff I'm also playing.
Anything singer-songwriter-ish is perfect - to give you an idea I'm definitely doing Fields of Gold, Your Song, Iris, Chasing Cars... that kind of thing.
Any ideas?

It's not as well known as the ones you mentioned, but Missy Higgins Where I Stood is a beautiful song.0

I love Missy Higgins and hadn't thought of doing some of her stuff. Thanks for the reminder.0

Are you willing to do anything a little more upbeat? Perhaps with a backing track? I know you said singer/song writer but sitting through an hour of that would bore me to tears!!!0

sacha28 - it's background music as the photos are being taken. I'm doing some upbeat stuff too, and some classical, so there should be a good mix.0

If its while the pictures are being taken I would definitely consider mainly an upbeat set.
Think how you would want people, to look in your wedding photos, then think of the impact on music....
I'd think of a set which will have people smile, and even laugh a little. I'd ask the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom what their favourite songs are, and if their are very little bridesmaids or young family members in snaps I'd thing of something they can smile at but not wriggle too much to as well.....
A melancholic set, even though you are considering very pretty songs, will risk melancholic eyes in photos.
A mix of upbeat modern stuff, your classical stuff with a happy sound and some popular real book stuff to pull out if needed is a good bet.0 -
Katie Melua - Closest Thing to Crazy
The Calling - Wherever You Will Go (maybe)
Michael Buble - Everything
Christina Perri - A Thousand Years
One Direction - Little Things
Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply
Obviously you might not want some of those if you've got a soprano voice, but I thought it might give some variety

perfect - The Calling has been requested by the bride, and One Direction is already on the list. Any more ideas?!
I'm an alto if it helps, but don't mind transposing songs.0 -
