Foxgloves, what a fantastic day you have planned! I am envious on so many counts.
Firstly all your food picking/stewing/pickling and the fact you have sunshine. I can only presume you're not in Wiltshire. Please send samples of all food and sunshine to me :D

I don't suppose it's a Jo Nesbo book you've got on the go? His Swedish psychological thrillers are fantastic. I thoroughly recommend The Snowman if you haven't read that yet :)

    The List 2:

:staradmin Froze blackberries 'flat' in a tray to stop them sticking together. Will portion into freezer bags when they're solid. Found lots of b.b. bushes with red fruits on them, will check on them later in the week.

:staradmin Batch of bills paid. Really tight, but managed to pay them all on time.

:staradmin Checked to see if utility company has paid £30 compensation yet. Yes, £30 credited to my gas/elec account, that'll help as the weather gets colder! :D

:staradmin Cleaned kitchen with supplies from under the sink.

:staradmin Persuaded OH to use up three bottles of shower gel before buying more bars of soap.

:staradmin Identify red berry I saw growing in the glen. Don't know what it is. Probably inedible but will check. It's honeysuckle. Some varieties are edible, this one isn't. Darn.

:staradmin Cook Spicy Yogurt Chicken (Link) for dinner with the tonne of yogurt we've got in the fridge. Use homegrown onions and daikon.

:staradmin Cut open toothpaste tube to get the last of the paste out of it.

    Freebies:

:staradmin Free Starbucks coffee; just say the password (Link)

:staradmin Free health tests at Sainsbury's pharmacies (Link)

:staradmin Free Amazon Kindle e-book "War of the Worlds" (Link)

    Offers:

:staradmin Morrison's cat food 12 pouches for £1? (Link)

:staradmin Enter a competition and get 50p off Sanex. You can either print the coupon yourself or ask them to post it to you. (Link)

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us off Ziggy.

Sorry I didn't end up posting at the weekend, was very busy but fairly MSE as I cut my DH's hair myself & we did a car boot sale amongst other things, didn't get the results I wanted unfortunately & came away with a dismal £12ish profit but I did manage to talk DH into not getting a Burger King afterwards as that £12 would be completely gone then!

I have been researching different car boot sales in the area today to see if we're better off paying slightly more for a pitch elsewhere. I think we will be.

Naughty confession time - Yesterday we bought a new dining table & chairs but used the 25% off code at H0mebase & cashback, I will look into selling the old one. :o

    Today's listypops:-
    • Making use of free water at work

    • Log calories & exercise on free apps
    • Checked birthday bingo
    • Check online banking

Have a great, MSE day everyone x

@siberianhusky - Not Jo Nesbo, tho' enjoyed 'Headhunter', both the book & the film. This one is 'Asylum' by Johan Theorin. I like these dark deeply psychological novels, where there's a big puzzle to try & work out before the author reveals it.
No, I'm not in Wiltshire! I live a lot further north than that. It's sunny up here, though have just seen the lunchtime weather forecast for Wednesday & it looks like a total washout here, so perhaps you'll have your nice day then.

  • Hi Moneysavers!!

Back to work today after an amazingly chilled and happy weekend of sun and surf (and being totally spoilt) in the homeland with Mummy and Daddy Bear!! :D

The fairies did some washing and ironing for us, cooked us food and got all my old clothes that had worked their way back to their attic down so I could bring them back to eBay - there's two huge holdalls full - so will be quite a job!!

They also sent us home with lots of fruit and veg for eating, half a ham joint, HM jam, bottles of wine, and the kitchen sink!! Bless... In all seriousness, my lovely mother :A took me and OH to the new B&M that's opened near them and treated us to £100+ of non-perishables, toiletries, cleaning & laundry products etc that should keep us going til Xmas!! I kid you not!! So, a very spend-free and happy weekend with the family, which was awesome - and much needed after a rough few weeks at work!

So, back to reality and today's little listy:

    :) Washing on economy

:) Transplant plants and pot herb cuttings donated by Dad into allotment and cross fingers!

:) Create free troughs to edge allotment from a pallet

:) Fill car with diesel at Asda on way home from work as cheaper by 4p per litre!

:) Packed brekkie & lunch and lift share for work

    :) Dinner from stores

Not feeling particularly inspired after another awful day at work - but hoping the allotment will cheer us up!!! Off we go!! :T

Lots of MSE love gang!! Xxx
:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T

Thanks for starting us off Ziggy-glad you're feeling confident about your decision! Hope everyone else is well and hello to new people!

Been a cheap but fairly unproductive day today, will list to see if it makes me feel like I've accomplished more!

Checked postcode lottery and birthday bingo
Food from stores-reduced fruit loaf for breakfast, cheese and pickle on reduced bap for lunch, veggie jambalaya for tea from meal plan
Checked banks and CCs-received £100 from Halifax for switching my direct debits back (if you haven't switched since jan 2012 you can receive the incentive, I swapped to FD in May for the £125 incentive so feeling flush!)
    NSD
Emailed HR dept to find out payroll number to make travel claim
    Walked to and from work
Evening entertainment is a night in front of the telly, looking forward to Doc Martin!

Mmm-not too bad! Still to do is book train tickets for courses away and trip home, update diary and decide what to do with the £100-pay off CC (have money elsewhere for this though) or top up my gifts fund which I've stolen from and then remainder in savings. Hmm, something to ponder!

    Have a great evening all!
