Winter wonderland ideas.

Our daughter is to marry at the end of this year. The theme is winter wonderland and we will be doing almost everything as family. Her husband passed away 18 month ago and with her fianc!e they only want approx 60 guests so not a big wedding, may go to 100 tops. They will marry around 4.30. The whole event will be at our church. We have organised to tent the hall ceiling to make it less like a gymn hall. We want lots of white lights but no ideas for decorations yet. I'm thinking of vases with twigs and lights in. Please help this very happy mum

No idea sorry, but just wanted to say how great that she's found love again! I'm coming up to 2yrs since my DH died and I know my mum and MIL are keen for me to meet someone - you must all be so happy for her. I hope she has a lovely day and I'm sure husband no 1 will be glad she's being looked after and making the most of life.

    Away with the fairies
  • White twigs with fairy lights, lots of white flowers with perhaps silver ribbons, silver or iridescent table confetti & balloons, perhaps silver or sparkly chair cover ribbons/sashes.

How about Christmas dinner as the wedding breakfast - you could even have Christmas pudding or mince pies as your dessert?

Maybe wrap favours and/or attendant's gifts in Christmas paper?

White or cream faux-fur stole/shrug for bride & bridesmaids.

Basically lots of white, silver and sparkles!
I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.

Thanks for the ideas and thanks also for the support. My daughter is wonderful and truly deserves this joy. Like the idea of christmas food. Thanks

  • The great thing is the shops will have plenty of decs in beforehand, so you can be sure to find lots of lovely stuff, how about tissue paper pom poms in white, you could touch the edges with some pva and get some irridiscent large flaked glitter and stick it on, theres a lot of tutorials on how to make them (White tissue paper is a lot cheaper than the colours) paper chains in white/silver/pale colours instead of bunting, you could make it out of cheap wrapping paper, or even wallpaper if you can get the right colours at car boots/jumble sales, add to it with glitter etc when you cut out the strips.....(so many ideas, where are you in the country ....can I come and help lol)

Congrats to your daughter!! :D If you're near a 'Country Baskets' store then have a look there, they have big warehouse stores full of decorations, vases, flowers, etc and a big xmas section! Just browsing that shop will give you a ton of decorating ideas :D Says wholesale only but I said I was shopping for a wedding and they said no problem, just had to sign up for a free membership card. I actually have a country baskets card and we are going this week. Just want some ideas to show My daughter so she can then bounce ideas from that. She is amazingly creative with a huge talent in craft work. I guess I am hoping to find that something different.

Try having a look through pinterest! Great site for ideas, you can search by keyword! :Dhttp://pinterest.com/winterweddingus
  • Pine cones would look nice as part of the table decorations with some nice chunky dark red candles. You can buy silver and white pinecones or ones with just coloured tips.

Ooh there's some great stuff on a Pinterest search for "winter wedding decor" - pine cones on snow in large goblets, snowflake garlands made from newspapers..

You could get fibre optic twig trees to go at the start of the aisle! Some of these are expensive but I got mine from Tesco for a tenner - it's more standard tree than Christmas tree but it looks like a fairy tree and I love it! You could get one with just white/clear led lights to have it more wintery and less christmassy.

Home Bargains have some giant sized Champagne glasses that would look great as table centrepieces filled with baubles.
