extra chunky wool

hi, ive got few balls of extra chuncky wool and wondered about making some quick hats and scarfs for winter, does anyone have any idea what size needles i will need and a easy pattern for the hat or other ideas???

    I'd start at a 7.5mm and see how it looks and move to bigger if that is too stiff.

    Have you tried Ravelry?You have to register but it's free. They have lots of free patterns. You can even do an advanced search for, say, a free scarf pattern for an adult using 1000 yards of extra chunky wool.If you don't know how many yards of wool you have you can look your particular wool up under yarns and it will tell you how many in each ball.

    Do you still have a ball band? The needle size in mm should be given under the symbol of crossed needles. You are usually given a couple of options as it depends how tight or loose you knitting is. Basically you need to do a tension square, the details of which should also be on the ball band.

    This is the tension required for Stylecraft Life Super Chunky:

    Knits to a tension of 9.5sts and 13 rows to 10cms (4")

    You need to find needles to achieve this measurement, most people will use 10mm
