Ie yes they can fine parents.
Don't forget we are all mates here helping each other so I say that constructively.
I was in a meeting with heads/LA, at the end I was chatting and raised this issue and was told clearly that this is illegal. Some LA issue guidance that recommends this, but it is guidance not legislation therefore not enforceable.
If I was taking a child out of school in term time, I would write to school and say the child is being educated off site for the period of the holiday. Remember education is compulsory, as parents we are told we have to delegate this to schools which is not correct.100 -

New legislation came in on 1st September SM. It is legal for schools to issue penalty notices to parents for unauthorised absence. It's not guidance.......it's law. It's no longer legal for a head teacher to authorise time off for holidays in term time.0 -
Hi just quickly nabbing the laptop from my daughter to say a big thank you to everyone who tried to help with my failed shop yesterday.
I decided to go back today and be really cheeky and return my 2 glade, 2 s&g and 2 Bombay pots. Received gift card for £11.69.
2nd try at this targeted shop and hey presto it worked :j, results below.

I also bought a £2 birthday card, not shown on apg. So total price £19.97, minus £11.69 gift card, minus £2.00 from previous overcharge, £6.28 to pay.
Received apg for £9.15. Absolutely delighted, although no idea what happened yesterday.
A massive thank you for all your help xx

Thanks,
I will ring the head/speak to LA tomorrow and check, as the head just gave permission for a child to have 2 weeks off, even when I said many of the arguments posted on here today.
What a minefield to have a holiday100 -
