Nah, don't bother - just follow the sage advice of P J O'Rourke for any home improvements or before buying any new furniture:
    Decorating With Alcohol:
    (1) Start with an empty room and take a big drink.
    (2) See, it looks better already. Take another drink.
    (3) Drink a bunch more.
    (4) Hey, this place looks great, dammit! Know what I mean? This is a great-looking place. Looks great.

    :)

Drop HO a simple polite email saying it expired because you were on holiday and you mistakenly thought sainsbob had the same 28 day policy as A and T.

Takes 2 mins and you might get a £10 giftcard as goodwill. You might not but whats the harm?

I like your thinking mate, nothing to lose now, will give it a go.
