My DD1 has been back to school a week now and I have paid £27 for a trip to London end of this month on a Saturday and tonight get given another letter for a trip in Oct for £12, more local. Plus her bus fare everyday and money for lunch, about £5 a day (although today she only spent the busfare) which is alongside a small packed lunch incase she doesn't like anything in the cafe. I don't really mind as it is good she has these opportunities, but I hope it settles down a bit. Be a while before I get any NSDs :rotfl:
Thanks for the congratulations guys, still can't believe it. I am going somewhere tomorrow in the car, just me and LO, don't know where yet. Probably just Asda lol.
Congratulations! Nice choice for a little outing. My first solo trip involved me oversleeping for work and realising that I could drive there and be on time :rotfl:
For some reason your news has made me want to watch this:

I think you might be pleasantly surprised at the amount of contact you have with him whilst he's away. It's surprising how much they miss their loved ones in that situation.
You can join me at Christmas in filling some shoeboxes to send out thereit's very satisfying
The other potential problem he has is that his mates are ones he has known since junior school and high school, none of them managed to escape this awful town so they are now onto the next life stage, steady girlfriends and places of their own - so over the next year their lives will gradually separate. I don't think eldest son realises how quickly this will happen whilst he is away.
He gets no leave for 6 months which is tough - between doing Uk courses and leave he has managed to be home every couple of months so far.
Christmas shoe boxes - I've been doing these for years now, best bit of Christmas, I save stuff all year to fill them Some years I have enough for 8 boxes but this year I think it will be just 3.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
