Sorry not an MSE comp but I went to Wisely yesterday and won 2nd place in the "My best garden Dahlia competition":j
I took one of my Dahlias along to the Wisely Flower show and by the time we got there the flower was looking a bit sorry for itself! :rotfl: I looked at the other entrants and decided that my tiny droopy flower:( was not going to cut the mustard. But we had lunch gave the flower and myself. a good drink.. 2 glasses of vino later and I decided that for a laugh i would put my tiny droopy single Dahlia next to all the large showy in your face Dahlias, she asked me the variety I said "don't know " and put "RED" on the entrance card and wandered off laughing.
Next thing i got an hour and a half later was a telephone call to say I had won a prize and could I go back to discuss my flower with the curator. I thought it was going to be a "booby" prize BUT there was my suddenly perky looking little flower in 2nd place.
I am now the proud holder of a RHS certificate saying 2nd place in the flower show with Exhibitor:D next to my name...LOL! and £10 in gift vouchers
Chelsea Flower Show next year???;)
