As the meeting draws near, the union rep still has not got back to me, I feel so stressed and anxious that I had trouble sleeping and feel physically sick.0

At worst the notice period should be twice the length as the holiday period.
An employer can put any rules they like on A/L as long as they let you take it all
One months notice is not unreasonable in many 24/7 min cover situations like the NHS the policy can be all requests for main holidays in ASAP which can mean a year in advance for Xmas/NY summer holiday requests.0 -

Try calling your rep again. If there's no answer then contact your branch office/branch secretary. Failing that your union is likely to have a call centre - look on the website for the helpline number and give them a ring.
Don't forget that union reps are volunteers and it's not normally their full time role so they have to juggle work and union duties, which means they may not always be able to respond immediately. It could also be that they are waiting for advice from a convenor or regional officer, or maybe some legal advice before contacting you.
Hope it works out for you.0 -
Thanks Southend...I have little hope of them getting back have spoken to the branch manager as well, it has been about 8 weeks since my claim form was processed and I have had no advice from them at all, not even an initial contact about my query except to say that they were really busy and couldn't fit me in until the beginning of September. I am probably over reacting to the whole meeting thing but my mental health is not good...I feel bad that I tried and got nowhere, I sat in interviews depressed and faked my feelings which was really difficult. However I will post an update tomorrow. My area manager asked for specific examples of how my manager has stressed me out and I have 17 pages of notes backed with evidence from e-mails, I am just simply concerned that this approach will not be constructive as I am aware of how my manager will respond, he has already implied that he thinks i'm a mental case but my conduct in the previous 7.5 years has been good, it is only since his arrival. I don't feel that this meeting is unbiased though I may be wrong as the company employed him and now they have to justify their decision because they believe that reflects on them. The last thing I need is another battle but i'm sure it will be better than I imagine which is awful....0

I would be tempted to ask for the meeting to be postponed to give your union rep time to get up to speed with the case.0

Got a range of options to chose from after the meeting, looks like demotion and the same pay will be the best option with a package of support and development with it.0

Thanks for coming back with an update. I hope things work out for you.0
