Hi all, we are going to our venue tomorrow for a meeting prior to booking our April 2015 wedding. I just wondered how much bargaining power I may have with regards to price with it being in April, we are also looking for midweek too, to keep costs down. Any tips on bargaining will be greatly received as I am v. nervous about it, but am on a v. tight budget

Hiya, do they do set packages or can you make your own? Set packages tend to come out more expensive so if you can make your own that may be a lot cheaper. We are negotiating with our venue soon for jan 2015 slice made a list of what we want eg 3 course meal for 30 people, ideas of what we would want on a buffet and exactly what drinks we want to provide people.im being tight so only giving our guests a glass of wine with the meal and a glass of bubbly to toast with ( 1 bottle of wine will do 3 people and a bottle of bubbly should do 5 for toasting. I used to work in a hotel!) the package our venue recommended is almost 3k but as its out of season I'm going to try and negotiate e price down by about 25% or try and get extras thrown in eg chair covers.

Hi, Thanks for your reply
My venue does set packages as well as tailored packages. We saw them today so OH could see it (luckily he loves it as much as I do), and sat down to go through our requirements. They will contact us with a quote. I have detailed exactly what we want and what we don't want, and have been very honest that we are on a very tight budget. I will wait and see what their quote is, then go from there to get as much off as I can. The receptionist I spoke to when I first phoned up seemed very confident that that ball would be in my court as it's not a popular time of year. Good idea about the negotiating extras, I hadn't thought of that. Good luck with your negotiations too trixsie
