Hello Everyone,
I am now planning my wedding for Sept 2014, and are on a small budget but you know when you mention the word "wedding" is seems like they bump the prices up 100%!!
We have booked a route master to get guests from one central point along to the church and reception. However this would include bridesmaids, father of the bride and also me of course after the church!
Now I am having confusion on how to get to the church as getting prices of £280 each car for 3 hours but to be honest I only need one for 1 hour!! seems so expensive and really I cant justify it!
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with a nice car!! Any ideas??!!

What is a routemaster?
You could hire a coach for that cost. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Have you tried a limo company? They usually hire by the hour or try googling executive taxis for your area with goggle. I know a couple of firms in the area I live have unmarked taxis like BMW and mercs0

Thank you for the replies, had a quote from a cab firm quickly on the net.... 13.00 one way!! Bargain for a mercedes or bmw!
I don't mind paying that! :-) think thats decided for me... then after the ceremony we can join everyone on the london bus!!0 -
We're having black cabs and hiring them for an hour ... Gonna have 3 cabs costing £50 for as many journeys as we want and they'll even wear suits and put ribbons on the cars for us :-) xxxDebt free finally :j
First house purchase ... 2018 :j0 -
Unfortunately whenever the word "wedding" is mentioned, it gives an excuse for firms to ramp up their prices, where it be for cars, or the hotel/pub or wherever a reception is to be held, the DJ, etc.
For the car, I'd just make a normal booking to be picked up (your home address, assuming), to the church at a specific time and date, and ask for an executive car. Don't mentioned the word wedding, and ask agree on a price of the journey beforehand, get it in writing, or in an e-mail if possible.
It may be cheaper than hiring a car "as directed" for an hour or three (assuming the trip from home to the church is much less than an hour).0 -

That sounds great, please could you share the company name? X0 -
A lot of rural fairs have a vehicle section - my cousin saw & fell with a thud for a steam roller. She offered to pay for fuel, whatever - when the proud owner/driver realised this was both genuine and the sort of sudden love that is profoundly inconvenient but immutable, he checked the date & locations with his missus and then refused all payment other than a big glossy photo of the beast, polished & glorious. She insisted on adding another two - one of him in his boilersuit (pressed for the occasion!) alongside it & one of them en route.
It had the side benefit of keeping all the small boys & several older guests wide eyed & on enchanted best behaviour for photos.
That worked for her - all the best with the Routemaster which sounds as much fun!0 -
I get the "don't mention the wedding" thing, because sometimes it does bump up prices, but don't be too paranoid, because other times it brings out the best in people.
For the guests from home, I had a cream minibus taxi - I'd spotted him in a garage, run up to him and asked if it was possible to book him for my wedding - he gave me a card with his name and driver number so we could ask for him when we phoned, and on the day he turned up in posh shirt and trousers!0
