Balloons instead of flowers

Options
So this is a bit premature... Got 2 years to go!

But I was browsing table decoration ideas as you do and saw balloons as centre pieces and think they look great! We're not fussed about flowers and after sorting our venue out our budget is now a bit limited for decorating so was wondering if anyone knows how the cost of balloons would compare to flowers? Has anyone seen them at a wedding (I haven't) or used them? Our venue would set things up the day before so would they last 24 hours+?

I want to make sure it's an affordable option before I get my heart set on it! :rotfl: Don't want to get quotes just yet and people aren't very good at putting costs on their websites.

we're having balloons on tables inside fishbolws with tissue paper and fairy lights. the balloons weight will be hidden in the bowl. sounds strange but looks really good!

We are having 3 balloons per table with this 'longlife' sealant in them, and that costs £5 per table.

Plus the bowls, fairy lights and batteries and tissue paper, each table comes in at £9.10 all together.
  • We paid £100 for the balloons for our wedding. Not the greatest photo but we had 12 tables with 3 balloon clusters, the top table had a cluster of I think it was 4 balloons with a foil heart and the cake table had a cluster of 3 foil heart balloons. The balloons were placed on mirrors (these came as part of the package from the venue) and had burgundy and clear crystals scattered around them.

Won't tissue paper and fairy lights in a bowl catch fire? Unless it's special fire-retardant stuff, or LEDs, or both....

damn! didn't think of that...better research now! thanks for pointing that out! they are LED fairy lights though, battery powered.

    damn damn damn!!!
  • What would everyone put out for evening tables? Don't think we're having centrepieces for the day because we're having a horseshoe table and I wouldn't no how to decorate it so maybe just crystals and rose petals for that. Sxx

Hi, I'm sorry I can't remember how much it was for just our balloons. I know it came to £2-300 for the balloons, bay trees, post box and chair covers. This was our room ready for wedding breakfast.

We chose balloons for a more party/less formal atmosphere, but mainly so that the centrepiece wouldn't divide the table so much and people wouldn't have to look around it to talk.
    :)
