I suppose what we call a bargain is all relative.

'store cupboard' things I 've bought this week:

    Flora 500g for £1 (Co-op or Asda)
    Sharwoods mango chutney £1 Co-op
Large Beef joints (Irish) £5 per kg in Asda (I've cut one up into portions for two)
Beansprouts (to freeze) 42p for 310g (Asda)

Bog standard prices. Not a bargain. Please do not post such misleading statements. You're as bad as the supermarkets themselves.

Isn't most of that normal pricing anyway. I have never paid more than £6/kg for any mature cheese. The sausages work out at £3.67/kg for 68% pork sausages and are regularly on sale. Tesco pork sausages are £1.39 for 8 (£3.07/kg) and contain 61% pork.

I don't see the difference with the Sainsburys super soft 240 per roll and Andrex 240 per roll. The Sainsburys one at £3 for 9 rolls is cheaper. I do not mean the basics version which is very cheap and vastly different...

If I could afford champagne I wouldn't be in this thread.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

This forum is for anyone wanting to save money. If someone wants to buy a bottle of champagne they will be interested in offers on champagne same as someone who wants the cheapest price of milk.

    Agreed.

My comment about relativity meant exactly that. Lots of the listed offers are on what I consider to be 'junk' but we know people buy it for treats or whatever so if the posts help someone then that's fine by me.

Personally I use £5 per kg as a guide to what's a good cheese offer but some of it is £14+ per kg so if you'd been paying that then scrooze gives good advice.

If the thread is supposed to be listing bargains or good value items we've nabbed ourselves then

Sainsbury's 270g blocks organic Cheddar (various types) , Wensleydale and Red Leicester 2 for 4.50 ie 540g cheese to 27/03/2018
Sainsbury's SO organic 95% British pork sausages 6 for £3 ie 50p each
    Sainsbury's SO organic teabags 80 for £2
Duchy Originals from Waitrose organic unsmoked dry cured bacon rashers (6) 184g 3.29 to 17/09
Sainsbury's SO organic unsmoked back bacon rashers (6) 200g 3.99
    Organic Weetabix (24) 2.68, ASDA (2.99 Sainsbury's, 3.09 Tesco, Ocado, Waitrose)
Organic white mushrooms 300g £1, ASDA

I would buy champagne for Christmas and hope to get it on offer but not that one. It's not a bargain if you buy cheap then hate it.
  • Tesco Everyday Value, sweet and sour cooking sauce.

    440g jar. 26p.

Listed on the website at 79p, so less than 1/3 of listed price.

BBE date (for anyone who bothers about dates) is Feb 2015.

I am hoping this is the right place...

went to MrT yesterday and they had baking stuff cheap.

Betty Crocker milk chocolate cake mix reduced to 56p.
Dr Oetker chocolate shavings cake decorations reduced to 32p.
Dr Oetker pink sparkly cake decotations reduced to 32p.

Both the cake toppings were originally £1.29 (tescimos own brand was £1). Sorry, I can't remember the cost of the cake mix.

I know they are necessities but I bought them for my work's leaving party on Sunday. Saves me buying ready-made cakes.
