Posting Comps Before The Start Date

Hello Everyone :hello:
I was wondering what the general consensus is about posting comps before the start date.
We only used to get one or two like this but now there seems to be a lot being posted before they start one I remember not starting until the 16th & we are only on the 6th.
Just wondering what people think about it?
Thanks

That's a difficult one.
It relies on someone remembering to bump it and say it's live.
But it also gives a chance to bookmark it, so you can enter at the start, which is vital if it's a competition running for weeks with regular draws.
As I'm comping by end date at the moment I've missed a few I would have entered from the start.0 -
I had wondered if it affects people who comp by the main board as they come in, or by the end date differently.
I missed one today & I comp by the main board as they come in. I think where the problem is, if people post the comp before the start date they should make a note of the comp & bump it when open, I'm not sure this is being done.
I've got loads of bookmarks now in fact my bookmarks will soon have bookmarks :rotfl:
And now I am starting bookmarks for comps that have been listed but don't start yet, in fact my computer is looking more & more like a Competition forum by the day

I think posting in advance is best avoided, but I don't think it is a big deal, and a comper needs a method of working that deals with them. As well as comps with a future start time, comps can be posted that are faulty, or where the answer is unknown - you have to come back to all these sometime later to enter them.
I think it is certainly OK to post in advance those comps that are only open for a few hours, or maybe a day - imagine, for example, if the Times hourly comps weren't posted until 9am on the actual day. Other examples include those where you have to listen to the radio for the question/answer. There have been comps where you have to collect information/answers over a period of time but can not enter until you have everything needed.
I normally post a comp before I submit my entry in case there is information I can't access after entering. I was caught out the other day when after posting, I submitted my entry, only for it to be rejected as the comp didn't open until 9am the following morning.0 -
I don't mind as I just bookmark them and check back later x:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

The Walkers comp doesn't kick off till the 16th of September but I posted it early as it lets people know to save their crisp packets. I don't think you can generalise and say comps shouldn't be posted before they start, I think it's a common sense thing and as mentioned above there are comps like the times comp where it helps to have advance notice. I just bookmark comps that aren't open and come back to it xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I bookmark any comps I fancy and enter them the day before they end normally. The only time posting early causes me any problems is where there aren't any detailsof the comp available at the time of posting and they turn out to be dailies or weeklies or enter early once, by the time I get to them I've missed all but the last couple of days. But then I have the same problem with any comp where the OP hasn't marked the header as Daily/Weekly/Enter Early.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams
