Lost glasses

Im not sure if this is in the right place!

About 2 months ago I lost my glasses. I thought I had lost them at home but after extensive searching I literally can't find them ( I have a two year old who may have made off with them!) they were only about 4 months old when I lost them and I have been making do with my old ones in the hope that they come to light.

I'm starting to get really bad headaches from wearing my old ones and think i need to get some replacements. The glasses I lost cost £300 back in March. I bought them on my credit card I also have house (buildings and contents insurance) can I make a claim on either of these?

Thanks

  • I can't say for sure, but some people have house insurance that covers certain items lost outside of the house so it is well worth trying that and giving them a call. Also check the excess. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think credit card companies cover loss of items after they have been received iykwim.

If you think you might find them, is it worth seeing what the cheapest ones you can get would cost, since Specsavers etc have ranges that start at £30ish?

Finally, if you went to Specsavers or another big chain especially, did you get a voucher for discount off a second pair within a certain time? I get a 50% off another pair within 6 months voucher at SS. Not ideal to have to buy again but £150 off would help.
  • If you have personal possessions cover on your contents then it should be covered...worth reading your policy first to ensure what circumstances are covered though....:D but as suggested above - maybe get a cheapie pair from somewhere as a standby/stopgap...

Have you looked under your sofas/chairs? That is where quite a few of the littlies I know tend to stash things they are hiding for playing with later. A friend lost her house keys for a week and eventually found them secreted away under the sofa.
