39 hour contract?

Hi, all I work for a concert hall / theatre and am on a 39 hour contract. Obviously our hours are mostly more than this because of shows and concerts but, when we have dark weeks when there is nothng on our hours can be down to 30 hours.
This is where the problem is, we are told we must use our holiday time / comp rest time to make our hours up to 39.
Does this sound right and legal?

You have to be paid 39 hours.
You have to be given the minimum holiday entitlement.
If there is no work they can tell you to take holiday.
If you run out of holiday and there is no work you still have to be paid 39 hours.0 -

They have to give appropiate notice to take the holiday which either is the amount of time they wish u to take or double...I can't rememberDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
