hi, not really sure if i have posted in the right place but i wonder if anyone could help my ex has just got out of the mental health unit etc i have asked a couple of times but he wouldn't talk to me about it if i would receive maintenance this month so i could sort out my money etc - i rang the csa when it was due in and they said i had to just sit and wait and see if anything comes in as there was nothing on the system ring back in a couple of days .. so i rang back nothing .. it would have been in my bank normally by today my ex sent me a text to say no payment this month and maybe not next etc what happens am i suppose to just try and get by 200 a month down? i realise he also has to live but i rang income support which i am on until my little girl start school full time and plan on going back to work then and they just put change of circumstance info on the computer and said they cant help either rang citizens advice they said the same as the csa i cant even get a crisis loan because they cut that we only just got through the month before we don't stand a chance now am off to sell our stuff on ebay now i suppose - does anyone know if there is anything else i can do to get help, do they not increase another benefit and then decrease it back once he starts paying again? xx

There is nothing you can do. If your ex has been in a mental health unit then i assume he has not had an income so cant give anything to you.
Never rely on CM as it can stop/start/change amount often.
You should make an appt to see your lone parent advisor. They will be able to help with getting you back to work earlier then your child turning 5 which will drastically improve your financial situation.0 -
just to say not so long ago there was no such thing as csa, and people got on with only income support and child benefit, please ensure your getting all the other benefits your entitled to, in addition from what i know you can be considerably better off working just 16 hours a week, i wish you well x0

If hes been in a mental health unit, i doubt he was working, thus we would assess based on 0 income, I also would not advise using CM as a guarenteed payment unforetunatly.0

OP you have my sympathy. This will be a struggle, but there is nothing you can do. But keep in mind, even if you were living together, it would still have been a time of crisis if he went into a mental health unit.0
