Why OS ??

I went OS when I joined here. Trying to save money, newly married, finding suddenly feeding a family of 4 hard work and needing inspiration on easy recipes.
Since then it has become easier, I try and cook double and freeze for another day so I get an easy day!!
Our diet is better - no added salt, no e-numbers and other junk that comes from some jars and ready meals. In fact I get to sneak in extra veg and lentils and things the kids say they don't like (finely chopped peppers, grated carrots and red lentils added to a shepherds pie is always eaten without complaint). We have less coughs and colds.
Meal planning means when I get in the front door after work I know what I'm cooking and don't even sit down - just start the cooking (sitting down always means I can't be bothered to get up again
). The freezer is always emptied and refilled too as I plan the extra freezer meals into the month, so nothing nasty left in the bottom of the freezer. It also means I only have to decide once what we will eat for the week instead of standing staring at the contents of the fridge thinking "I'm hungry, what shall I cook".
Baking cakes means we can change the recipe. (Buying ramekins was the best thing I did as I can make a basic sponge and then add fruit to mine, choc chips to the others etc and the kids think it's a special pudding!!!
)
These are some of the OS things I feel I would stick to even if money was overflowing!!
