Might be a stupid question.....but can you cook any of these pasta dishes from frozen?

I have been doing a lot of batch cooking but always defrost stuff in the morning ready for dinner, but when plans change you end up with too much/little

wondering if pasta - lasagne, tuna pasta bake etc could be cooked from frozen

    thanks

I sometimes microwave mine from frozen, I have to stop and mash it down half way through as it's not always the same shape as the bowl when it comes out of the freezer!

    4 tbsp of balsamic vinegar,
    1 large red onion, chopped
1 large red pepper, also chopped (I do it in little cubes)
A bunch of spring onions, finely sliced
    300g of Arborio Risotto Rice,
    500ml of Vegetable Stock,
A small bunch of Parsley, finely chopped
Some Rosemary (dried works just as well as fresh for this)
A pinch of Salt and a sprinkling of pepper.

50g-100g of Parmesan or Mature Cheddar if you're not a fan of Parmesan!
    1 tbsp of Butter

Bung everything except the butter and the cheese in an ovenproof container (Like a casserole dish or something) and cook it at 200 degrees C. for 20 minutes. Then when it's done, stir through the butter and parmesan cheese (50g - 100g depending on how much you like cheese) and ta da! :p

It's my favourite recipe at the minute! It's probably the best recipe I've found for risotto, it's so easy to make and it only involves using one pot so it's not a nightmare to wash up afterwards. It's definitely responsible for the extra few pounds I've put on recently, though.. :D

Thank you, I will give that a try! I love cheese but DH doesn't so he can have his without and I'll have his :rotfl:

It is ok to freeze if you do not mind eating overcooked mush..Twice cooked pasta..Oh dear....Ps it takes a few minutes to cook..And just a few minutes to overcook..

I don't think it carries on cooking though? If you think about it, if you put dried pasta in the microwave, unless it was in boiling water it wouldn't cook, would it? If anything it becomes a bit drier

I think it is disgusting after being frozen.. it goes squelchy from being over cooked but also powdery from being frozen.. it cooks so quick it is pointless freezing it.

I would freeze the sauce you would use, cook the pasta while reheating the sauce mix together top with cheese and fling under the grill for 5 minutes.. that can be done while he takes a shower or something.

We have honey and mustard sauce which I just slop over cooked pasta and serve with anything.. meat, salad, assortment of veg.. whatever we fancy.. or mix with mayo and add bits of chopped chicken and bacon/gammon or whatever else is to hand.

Any meal portions from the freezer I just put in a pyrex dish with lid on and shove into the oven. Might take longer to thaw than in the microwave but they retain their texture and flavour better I have found. I also do this to casseroles, stews, etc. Sometimes I add more cheese to the pasta bakes and take the lid off the last 10 mins. If I were to rely on remembering to take out the night's meal in the morning I'd probably be down the local chippy every night!!

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
