When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:

Morning,
Lovely sunny day today. Perfect for deep cleaning the house as it's nice and bright so we won't need the lights on to see the dust! We're gonna clean all the inaccessible bits today before Autumn sets in. Keeping busy seems to be the key to keeping sane.
The List:
:staradmin Cleaning with minimal products and washable micro-fibre cloths.
:staradmin Plan Friday's belated Rosh Hashanah celebration. L'shanah tovah! Budget=£0.
:staradmin Plan weekend. Budget=£2.
Probably add to this later.

Morning Money Savers,
Another busy day planned.....still working through the weekly joblist. Bits of it money-saving, bits of it just tasks which need doing. Positive money-saving small things on the list for today:
*Ironing - switched off for last item. Can't believe I used to waste energy (both mine & the paid for kind) ironing tea-towels!! Not now!
*Ran out of bread, but plenty of flour, so loaf in bread maker.
*Pick chillies & freeze half, string other half for drying.
*Meals as per meal plans - home made lamb burgers from freezer in home made rolls & big salad from garden.
*Work on sewing project which didn't get finished yesterday due to mr f coming home from work early.....I took the opportunity to pin him down to do list of camping trip stuff. It's pinned, just need to sew it together.....will do by hand in the garden as it's a totally GORGEOUS day here. I shall have to get the Factor 30 out!!
*Do meal plans for next week.
*Start shopping list.
*Post last ebay package.
That's it for me today. Any extra time MUST be spent knitting, as I still haven't cast on my Christmas present projects yet. Knock on financial implications if I don't get those done as have already got the yarn, but will have to spend money on alternative gifts if I can't pick up the pace a bit......& we don't like the 'spend' word, do we?
Right, back to my sewing. have a good day, everyone,

P.S I WILL stay out of wool shops. Oh yes, I will, even when I'm on holiday, need cheering up or am feeling under the weather or feel like a treat. IF I weaken & venture in, I am allowed to look at the balls of wool, pick them up, admire them, stroke them lovingly, look at them covetously then PUT THEM BACK!! I have a whole ottoman filled with yarn. I do not need any more. I hope you guys don't mind me jumping on the bandwagon

I really need to start sorting my money out and maybe listing day by day is the way to go ahead! So, here's plan:
*Going into town at lunchtime WITHOUT spending a penny (might have to leave my purse in the office for this one!)
*Eating my packed lunch so no need to buy any food
*Drinking from the water cooler at work. I need to drink more water and it's free so much cheaper/healthier than cans of diet coke!
*Change rabbit litter tray - using batch of free newspapers given to me by friend and wood shavings which were bought on Tuesday
*Put a wash on but will have to use tumble dryer by the time it comes out
*Cook quorn chilli for dinner (cheaper than beef!)
*Take the huskies AND the husband out for evening walk. Make the most of the weather before the rain comes tomorrow

Hello
Ally – thanks for the kick off!
Foxgloves – you can add to your list of what you’re allowed to do in the yarn shops – take the info from the label and then pretend you will find it cheaper and buy it online later. Usually, by the time you get home and look online you’ve decided you don’t actually need it and the ‘lust’ has passed!
Here’s me:
Bought bus pass – OH can use it later too
Cheapo brekkie – porridge mixed with slightly posher muesli
Packed lunch – cheapo can of soup and bread and choccie biccie – not v healthy today but it will fill me up…
Got inspired by Pippy’s new blog! I often get milk going on the turn from work on a Friday/won’t last the weekend – scones will be made!
Made a pasta bake thing to use up leftovers – still loads left so having that tonight too
Phoned sister at the opportune moment – when she was having dinner – so she called me back
Bit of the usual yoga malarkey for class
Coursework! Maybe I can even finish the last section tonight!! :T
Survey – had no time yesterday
Looked at sim-only mobile deals - I should be able to cut my bill by over £20 a month come January
Catch up later y’all xx0 -
Welcome Siberian Husky.
Foxgloves: Admitting you have a problem is the first step on the road to recovery.:rotfl:
The List 2:
:staradmin Washed shower curtain by hand in sink instead of doing another wash.
:staradmin Deep cleaned upstairs using just what we had under the sink and elbow grease.
:staradmin Washing on line. Please don't rain!
:staradmin nPower are going to credit my account with £30 after the missing bill issue.
:staradmin OH cleaned all windows old-style.
:staradmin Deep cleaned downstairs using just what we had under the sink and elbow grease.
:staradmin Started renovating secondhand dining chairs. They've started looking more shabby than chic. They need a proper clean, a sand and a varnish.

Afternoon lovely people,
I've had a sleepy day after my night shift last night - had a very busy night following a local derby football match, which, of course, was spoilt for the masses by the minority of mindless idiots intent on wreaking havoc across the city!! Anyway - 4 days off now and I intend to enjoy every minute of it!!
So, not much from me today, here goes:
No Spend Day
Uniform on economy wash and out to dry in the sun
Food from stores - leftover HM curry!! Yay!
Check banking & quick go on Adpoints
Evening open-water competitive swim at quarry - it's about an hour from us, so I'm meeting DMIL and OH after work and sharing a lift with them!! In-laws have paid entry and I'll take some snacks for afterwards!
Nothing terribly exciting - tomorrow shall be more productive when I'm less tired!!
Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day!! Catch up tomorrow xxx:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -
Hi everyone. Just a flying visit from me today.
Today is Office Lunch day. On the first Thursday after pay day, we go across to the local Indian place where they do a buffet lunch for something like £6, but its optional and only around 7 or 8 people normally go.
I do normally go along, but today, I decided to hang on to my £6 and eat the salad that I'd prepared last night.
I stripped the boys beds last night and got the washing out drying on the line today. Just as well, as the forecast is horrible for the next couple of days.
Got the knockback from an interview I had a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting to hear back from the one I had at the beginning of this week, but I'm not hopeful.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
My small thing was not going round to the shops to replace my coffee which has run out. Will leave it until Saturday which means it will last a couple of extra days. Going to have tea and soft drinks instead tonight, tomorrow and sat am.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0
