how many coupons can you use??

Just wondering if anyone knows how many coupons you can use each transaction?? I know Tesco used to go into a melt down if you used any more than two. If anyone watches the TLC show they give high 5's & chants of go girl but here in the uk they look at like you have placed a warm dog poo in there hands not a money off coupon.

I don't seem to have any bother using all and any relevant coupons so long as you have bought the stuff and the coupons are in date.
