Getting rid of Brasso type smell!

Hello OS's, long time no see!
I have recently moved house and we are planning a complete extension/refurb of the kitchen, however, this won't be for a month or 2, my problem, when I open one of the cupboards in the kitchen, a WAFT of brasso, boot polish smell hits you in the snout! It's really overpowering.
I have used, bicarb, scrubbed it several times, left tea bags in a bowl in there, but it still stinks!
Any ideas what I can try next?

Yesterday DD said "PEEEWWWW what have you been painting?" I hadn't, I had just been in that cupboard!

How about charcoal, like for barbecues? I caught the tail end of Kim and Aggie last week who were cleaning out a fridge which had been left with rotting food in for months. They scrubbed it thoroughly, put a tray of charcoal in, shut the door and left it unopened for a few days, then replaced the charcoal with some fresh stuff and did the same again. Apparently, this worked completely.
