Quickquid taking money late

Hi, this is my first post so hope it is ok.

My problem is fooloshly I took a loan with quickquid. It was due to be repaid on the 15/07/2013. Nothing was said to my so I asumed it had been repaid from my salary as expected (they have all my contact details). I fell short again and so re used the company, when I logged in it said my previous loan was paid in full. I then checked my bank last week and the original loan had been taken from my card on 23/08/2013. As I was not expecting this I am now overdrawn and dont know what to do! Admitedly I had not gone through my statement to check it had gone out but as they said it was paid I can believe they have taken the funds over a month late! I will never use them again and I am also angry at barclays for letting a £300 card payment clear when I had no money and no overdraft.

I know they are owed but this just seems wrong! Thanks

Have you screen prints showing that the previous loan was repaid?

If not, get some now. You'll still have to pay the money back that you borrowed, but this will be useful evidence when you point out that you should not have additional interest charged because of their mistake.

I have to ask, if you are so low on funds that you need a payday loan, then how can you subsequently not know which amount if hundreds of pounds has or hasn't gone out? You need to pay closer attention to your finances in future; no-one else will do it for you.
  • On the plus side, you've paid the debt off and kept hold of the money for longer.

Good news that you won't be using them again though - they're rarely a good idea.

Talk to your bank, see if they will offer a temporary overdraft until you are paid or until you can raise some money.

Even if they won't ask then explain you won't have any more income paid in to the account until x date (your next payday) and ask them if there is anything you can do to minimise the bank fees and interest they will charge.

If you are able to raise some cash towards the unauthorised overdraft (selling things? advance from work perhaps?) then offer that to the bank whilst trying to negotiate with them.

    Nothing wrong here.

Remember debit card payments have upto 6 months to debit your account before the company has to contact you to say they are taking funds.

The real issue is you had your head buried in the sand and did not check your bank account to check Quick Quid had debited you.

In some ways you were lucky they did take it late, or you would have had to borrow even more...

Talk to your bank about your situation. They will help you.

It's with noting that since the OP is with Barclays they may well have allowed the payment to go through without an outstanding authorisation because of their "Personal Reserve" system.

OP might be wise to get this removed if they haven't already.
