my OH loves this meal! its simply new potatoes with slices of crisp bacon topped with a mound of fried onions - served with a side of lovely runner beans. (I do have to 'drizzle' the bacon pan juices over the potatoes though - so its not very healthy! and he may even ask for a pat of butter for the runner beans!) .

we also like cheesy bacon pasta. I usually use leftover cooked pasta for this and make up a cheese sauce then add some cooked chopped up bacon - top with a little parm or cheddar and breadcrumbs and brown.

I usually do this as a 'side' dish - but, it does make a quite substantial lunch.
its just half a small onion fried and then you add bacon strips then add some finely shredded savoy or white cabbage, about a quarter of a large head of cabbage (I haven't tried it with red cabbage but see no reason it wouldn't work). you can add garlic to the onions if you want. just stir fry it until the cabbage is cooked to how you like it - then add your salt and pepper to taste.
