Small Ceremony Help needed

Hi all,

My fianc!e and I would like to have a small intimate ceremony with family i.e. parents, brothers & sisters and then a meal together. We would then like to have a big party in the evening with all of our friends and the rest of the family. We don't want to spend a fortune.

Seems simple enough i hear you say....well my fianc!e definitely wants to wear a wedding dress for the ceremony and party which means wearing it for dinner (i would be in a kilt). Has anyone had experience of this kind of setup? We are not sure if a venue would be able to give a side room so we could have a nice meal with the family in our wedding get up?

We live around the Glasgow/Renfrewshire area just in case anybody knows of venues.

Thanks in advance for any help.

How many will there be at the ceremony? What sort of venue do you fancy for the party?

The ceremony will probably be no more than 10 people.

We would like the party venue to be somewhere that looks good also so we could get nice pictures. Everything is an option at the moment so town hall, hotel etc we would consider. It would need to be able to hold around 80-120 people.

The party doesn't need to be at the same venue ?

Some registry offices are in fantastic historic buildings or settings (our local one has a castle and a cathedral within three minutes stroll as well as cobbled streets) and many nice resturants have private function rooms. Hotels are often good for private rooms for sitdown meals as a part of their conference facilities.

The party doesn't need to be the same venue. If it was a separate venue I was thinking about trying to hire it for the party without mentioning it was a wedding to keep the cost down.

Unfortunately our local registry offices are not too picturesque.
