parking eye and small claims court

Received a county court summons from Parking Eye this morning, which obviously we can't ignore.
The only real dispute is that they changed their operating basis as it used to be a ticket at the entrance at the barrier, so when the barrier gates were open, assumed that there as no charge for parking. This had been the case a few times due to building work.
If there were signs, we honestly didn't notice them, but the car park was a pay and display rather than paying at the exit.
Any advice? Pointer?
Thank you very much

Advice would be: don't defend it like that or you will lose!
But also don't panic too much about losing if it does happen, as it's no biggie and doesn't cost an arm & a leg, resolves the issue once and for all, and you may win! Also you don't even get a CCJ if you lose and then promptly pay.
Here's the link I give everyone who posts on here or on pepipoo about a small claim:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=82744&st=0&gopid=862298&
There is lots of information flowing from that link so don't just look at it as 'one thread'...it's not. And on pepipoo there are hundreds of threads like yours where people are acknowledging claims and defending them in good time, after getting advice. You are not alone but defending this does involve some groundwork so do ask if you have any questions once you have acknowledged the claim and read the links from the link.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
