  • OOps .. should have been Council Tax £6.70 a month. All benefits claimed that entitled for & entered in the benefits section. Other insurance is in fact a life policy that pays out only if I die - no surrender value. House contents insurance amount also incl. insur on washing machine in case of breakdown. Yes, in the past I've done "free" cover for contents insurance but through Greasy Palm (same kind of site as yours). Groceries does vary - can't always get to Aldi !!
  • A couple of points. Your benefit income does not seem right for your circumstances. How old is your child? What benefits are you actually claiming and how much do you get? Is your rent more than the LHA for your area? I made a few assumptions about your circumstances on entitledto.co.uk and got a weekly income of £265, which is £1148 a month. (Made up of Child Tax Credit, Income Support, Council Tax Support, Housing Benefit, and Child Benefit. This is £254 a month more than you say in your SOA. It cannot be right that your rent is close to 50% of your monthly benefit income.

Why are you paying for life insurance? Who is the beneficiary if you die?

I agree there's something odd. IS/IBJSA is £71.70, CTC should be £62.72 or thereabouts, CB is £20.30, giving £670.45 on a calendar month basis.

The extra £223.75 could be HB coming in every 4 weeks, with council tax just showing the net payable.

But that would be a very low LHA rate.

My advice probably wouldn't change from bankruptcy to dmp (£50 per month available after the Ctax changes from £67.60 to £6.70) unless this clears the debt in 5-7 years but I'm not confident the income is correct.
