For a while now I have been cycling a few times a week on my hybrid bike. I now feel that I would like to do more so was thinking of investing in a racing bike but I dont know what I should be looking for.
Can anyone give guidance of what to look for and any recommendations of where to get a good bike from and what type to get ?
My maximum buget is about £400 so I am looking to get the best bike I can for that.

To be honest I think you would be best going to a local cycling shop to get a bike. That way you can ensure it fits you as road bikes have a different geometry to Mountain bikes and Hybrids. When I was looking for a road bike a couple of years ago that's what I did and ended up buying a nice reconditioned Carbon Fibre bike with Campag Shifters for around £300. It was a much nicer bike than the new bikes I could afford.
If you want ot buy one online have a look at Evans cycles as they have a good range. It may also be worth having a look at Wiggle, I've bought bits and bobs form them before and I think they now sell complete bikes. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Also check JE James, and browse on the ad pages of magazines like Cycle Sport or Cycling Weekly, there's usually good offers. Giant makes very good bikes at affordable prices, so you will be able to get something pretty decent for £400.0
