Right choice?

Hi everyone,
Hoping this is the right place to ask this question. Today I decided to face up to my problems with my debt and make some phone calls. The first plan was to try and get a consolidation loan (bad idea I know) and I ended up on the phone to Ocean Finance. Basically they put me onto Clark Richards who were trying to set me up on a DMP. This all sounded good, and I ended the call with the guy forwarding my paperwork to e-sign. It wasn't until the call ended that I wondered if I'd made the right decision so I began to do a bit of research. I then realised that this company would charge fees, and not start on my case until I had made 4 weekly payments of £23.

Eventually my search led me to StepChange and I phoned for their opinon after reading they were a charity, and didn't charge fees etc.. And they said they could set up a DMP for £25 a month, much less than Clark Richards. So I rejected the esign documents that had been sent to me from Clark Richards, to which I got a reply from the advisor basically saying that I'd made a bad choice and google CCCS and read the reviews.

So now I'm left, again, wondering if Stepchange is my best option here and thought I would ask for your advice. Thanks
 Huge thanks to all who post comps

Stepchange is a charity and won't charge you any fees to set up a DMP.

Commercial DMP companies will always try to scare you in to going with them. Go with Stepchange (or one of the other debt advice charities).

Many creditors prefer you to use a charity as they know they are getting their share of all you can afford a month, not all after someone has taken a cut from it.
And as you are not paying fees, your creditors all get more a month and you get out of debt free quicker.
